If social media wants to trend everything towards a pay to play type scheme for influence; I can deny the premise.
It seems the more I use some* social media sites, the fewer Quality of Life options are available; as a matter of fact they are becoming gated.
You have to pay to be trusted, pay to see your own data, pay to understand things that you are responsible for.
When behavior becomes offensive enough, I can work largely outside of the system that is designed to abuse me.
Social Media sites, in all honesty, should pay you for the insights you provide; to turn this idea on its head is not a very socially honest approach to your community.
You can at least create a win:win situation for your users, to share in the value of your services, for their part in generating it.
